LifeRing Secular Recovery

LifeRing Secular Recovery is an abstinence-based, worldwide network of people who are choosing to live in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. They encourage individuals to build their own personal recovery programs based on three principles: sobriety, secularity, and self-direction.

Secular Organizations for Sobriety

SOS is an alternative recovery method for those alcoholics or drug addicts who are uncomfortable with the spiritual content of widely available 12-Step programs. SOS takes a reasonable, secular approach to recovery and maintains that sobriety is a separate issue from religion or spirituality. SOS credits the individual for achieving and maintaining his or her own sobriety, without reliance on any “Higher Power.” SOS respects recovery in any form regardless of the path by which it is achieved. It is not opposed to or in competition with any other recovery programs.

SMART Recovery

Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) is the leading self-empowering addiction recovery support group. Participants learn tools for addiction recovery based on the latest scientific research and become part of a world-wide community of free, self-empowering, science-based mutual-help groups.

Women for Sobriety

Women For Sobriety, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women overcome alcoholism and other addictions. It is, in fact, the first national self-help program for women alcoholics. Their “New Life” Program helps achieve sobriety and sustain ongoing recovery.
